Shifting from a traditional retail model to a subscription service is no easy feat.
Vyrent, a luxury watch maker, saw the opportunity to transition to a subscription-based model as the future of business trends became more and more evident. Founder Sajad says, "I’ve watched the trends, and it’s hard to ignore that subscription service is the wave of the future… and the present."
As consumer interest shifted from demanding ownership to demanding a customer experience, Vyrent stepped in to fill a gap in the luxury watch niche with an app that provides access to high-end timepieces at a fraction of the cost of owning.
The Challenge: Bridging the Design Gap for a Seamless Luxury Experience
Vyrent faced a critical challenge in creating an app for customer engagement after experiencing communication issues and unsatisfactory results with a previous design agency.
As Vyrent grew, it began to face a significant challenge in its day-to-day operations: the development of a sophisticated and user-friendly app was now necessary if they wanted to scale their brand.
Amir, a team member, explained the situation as this:
"We used to have an in-house graphic designer. She had some experience in the UX/UI field, and she eventually got a job with Boeing and moved to California. Our team had put together the initial concept of Vyrent’s new app, but since we no longer had access to an in-house designer, we decided to hire an agency for the project. Unfortunately, we experienced communication issues from the outset which we believed led to a less-than-desirable outcome. We were frustrated that the firm outsourced our project and that those who listened to our ideas turned out to be “middlemen” and not app designers. The result was a huge gap between what we expected and what we received."
The Solution: Accelerated Design with Expert Guidance
Vyrent partnered with Designity and worked closely with a responsive team, including a dedicated creative director and designer, who provided clear timelines and kept up daily communication.
Recognizing that an app was critical for their growth, Vyrent decided to take a different approach in securing a designer.
They opted to partner with Designity, an innovative Creative as a Service (CaaS) provider. And although they were initially concerned about the timeline for such a large and difficult project, their first call with their designated Designity Creative Director, Aboozar, quickly put their worries to rest. Aboozar was able to answer all of Vyrent's questions, provide a detailed and structured timeline, and revitalize the Vyrent team's enthusiasm for their project.
To keep to the tight deadline, Aboozar immediately assigned the wireframe work to Sara Suzuki, a designer who took on the challenge, while keeping their team up to date with weekly video calls that addressed any concerns.
Says Sajad, "We were shocked that a project that should have taken at least four months ended up taking only 45 days while still meeting and exceeding all of our expectations. I also think Designity has created a very intuitive process to collect feedback from clients and implement them quickly. In other words, we were impressed at every turn with the team at Designity."
The Results: Exceeding Expectations in Record Time
Within just 45 days, Designity delivered a fully functional, user-friendly app, exceeding Vyrent’s expectations and leading to a long-term partnership as their go-to design and marketing solution.
The collaboration with Designity delivered impressive results for Vyrent.
The new app, initially estimated to take about four months to complete, was completed in just 45 days, meeting all quality and functionality expectations.
Sajad had this to say about a further partnership with Designity:
"After such a successful experience, our team unanimously decided to use them long-term. To be honest, it’s more affordable to have a plan with Designity than to hire an in-house designer or to deal with an agency that outsources projects to the lowest bidder. We see Designity as our marketing and design partners and, so far, they haven’t let us down."
We loved getting to speak with Sajad and Amir about their experience. What we’ve learned? That no matter how unique a business idea may be, some aspects of company growth are common to us all. A stellar website, a functional and attractive app, a large client-base… these are all areas where we can’t afford to waste time and money. We were happy to help Vyrent, an innovative company in the luxury niche, to get the job done and get it done well.
