Your next marketing campaign is only as good as the creative copy and graphics you use!

For this reason, many businesses have chosen to outsource their design work to specialized services that save them time and money by connecting them to talented freelancers who offer high-quality, on-demand creative services.

And when it comes to high-quality, on-demand creative services, two notable platforms stand out among other options: Penji and Designity.

Both can connect you to the freelance talent you need to complete your design projects, but which one is right for you?

If you’re having trouble answering that question, then allow us to help you out! Today’s blog is a detailed comparison to give you each platform’s features, strengths, and differences, so you can make a better-informed decision on which is the best fit for your business needs!

Who is Penji?

Logo for Penji, a design platform being compared to Designity.

Penji is a design-on-demand subscription service that aims to provide businesses and marketers with a team of professional designers for their creative needs.

The platform allows users to post design projects like logos, branding, motion graphics, web design, and more, and then be assigned a designer (or a team of designers) from a pool of talented freelancers to complete these projects.

Penji is an alternative to traditional freelance marketplaces and in-house creative teams and is ideal for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and more who need a way to quickly get creative assets for their marketing or branding needs.

Who is Designity?

Designity is a Creative as a Service platform that also connects businesses of all sizes with a team of professional designers and marketing specialists.

This innovative platform connects you to a designated Creative Director, who then sources and manages your projects and creative team, rotating talent out as needed so that your projects always have the right person completing them.

An alternative to traditional freelance marketplaces and design agencies, Designity provides businesses of all sizes with both creative and marketing needs on a predictable subscription-based pricing plan.

How Penji’s Creative Services Compare to Designity’s CaaS Platform

Penji and Designity can both connect you with talented freelancers to meet your brand’s creative needs, but which is best for your business and your goals?

To help you see if either of these solutions is right for you, we’ve laid out a detailed comparison of each platform's features for you to peruse. Take a peek at what each can offer your business and see if their services would work best for you.

1. Pricing & Plans

Designity

Designity has three pricing tiers to choose from, all available on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis:

  • Essentials  — $3,495/month. Includes a Creative Director, 1 active Creative, and limited creative services.
  • Plus— $5,495/month. Includes a Creative Director, 2 active Creatives, and a wider range of creative services than the Essentials Plan.
  • Premium — $8,495/month. Includes a Creative Director, 3 active Creatives, and full creative services.

You can also save 5% off the prices listed by choosing a quarterly plan and 10% by choosing a yearly plan. All plans come with a Creative Director to manage your account, plus unlimited project requests and revisions.

Penji

Penji operates on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly subscription-based service with the following pricing plans to choose from:

  • Starter — $499/month and includes graphic design, brand design, and illustration services.
  • Marketer — $995/month and includes Starter services plus web design and pro-level illustration services.
  • Agency — $1497/month and includes all Marketer services plus motion graphics design services.

Marketers can also save 15% off the prices listed by choosing a quarterly plan and 25% by choosing a yearly plan.

2. Project Management

Elements of project management, including a gear, a bar graph, and a bullseye.

Designity

Each Designity account comes with a designated Creative Director, a marketing and design expert with 10+ years of experience.

Our Account Executives carefully select the Creative Director who is best suited to your industry, personality, and specific needs to make sure that you have the perfect partner for your projects.

Your Creative Director will oversee all aspects of your account, including keeping up with your timeline, quality-checking deliverables, and meeting with you frequently to make sure that they are up to date with your needs and that you are satisfied with your deliverables.

Penji

Penji offers project management for its two higher pricing tiers only. You’ll be assigned a project manager for a Marketer plan, and an Art Director for an Agency plan.

Marketers using the Starter plan would need to contact and manage their designer(s) directly.

3. Trial Period

Designity

Designity offers a trial period for all of its pricing plans:

  • Monthly Plans  — 2-week trial
  • Quarterly Plans— 3-week trial.
  • Yearly Plans —4-week trial

If, for any reason, you are not satisfied with Designity’s services, you are free to cancel within your trial period and walk away without owing any payment whatsoever. If you choose to continue Designity’s services past your trial, then your trial period will be absorbed into your first statement.

Penji

Penji does not offer a free trial.

However, if you are not satisfied with their services within your first 30 days, they will issue you a full refund.

4. Your Creative Team

Designity

Designity’s subscription-based services offer unlimited project requests and revisions, which will be handled by the most qualified Creatives in our community. Your creative team will be made up of talented designers, copywriters, marketers, video experts, and anyone else your projects require.

Though the size of your creative team depends on what pricing tier you’re on, your Creative Director will rotate the Creatives on your team as needed to ensure that all of your project requirements are being handled by the expert with the skills they require.

Designity’s Creatives are thoroughly vetted (only the top 3% of all applicants are accepted), to make sure that our creative community is made up of the best of the best in their fields. This vetting process also ensures that all Creatives on your account are US-based and great communicators to avoid any language or time-zone barriers and keep your projects running smoothly.

Penji

Since Penji is also a subscription-based service, you can hire as many project requests as you wish and be assigned multiple designers to complete your projects. However many designers you have is up to your needs, but rest assured that all of the creatives on Penji’s platform are vetted to help them maintain quality services.

Keep in mind that you will only have someone to handle project management on their mid to high tiers.

5. Turnaround

Designity

Once you begin your partnership with Designity, your Creative Director will meet with you to discuss your needs, your projects, and the order they need to be completed.

They’ll then build out a detailed timeline containing all of your project deadlines that you can easily access via your Designity dashboard. Project deadlines are always guaranteed.

Penji

Penji guarantees a same-day turnaround for projects for clients on the Marketer and Agency plans and a one-day turnaround for simple revisions.

However, more complex tasks like custom illustrations, web design, landing pages, infographics, multi-page booklets, and pitch decks can take 3–4 days.

6. Scope of Services

Elements of creative services, like a laptop, color palettes, paintbrush, pencil, and painter's palette.

Designity

Designity is a one-stop for all of your brand’s design and marketing needs, including graphic design, copywriting, web design and coding, packaging design, social media management, marketing audit, digital marketing, motion graphics, and more.

With 100+ design and marketing services, Designity offers your brand anything it needs for its next marketing campaign.

Penji

Penji offers more than 120 design services, including graphic design, branding, illustrations, ad design, motion graphics, web design, presentation design, and more.

But while Penji can cover design needs, if your brand is in need of copywriting, SEO, social media management, coding, marketing, or analytics, you’ll have to find a different provider.

7. Client Onboarding

Designity

Getting started with Designity is a straightforward process. Simply book your demo call and meet with one of our Account Executives.

After your meeting, you’ll be matched with a Creative Director, who will schedule a Kickoff Call with you to discuss the projects you need to be completed. You can expect a creative team to begin your first project within three days of your Kickoff Call.

Penji

To get started with Penji, you would first sign up for an account and choose the pricing tier that works best for you.

Once your account is set up, you can begin posting design projects on the job board within Penji’s platform. An AI algorithm will then assign the most qualified designer to your project. If you are unhappy with your designer’s output, you can reach out to Penji’s support team, and they will match you with someone else.
